How to choose your necklace

Begin with the neckline you wear most. A fine chain necklace works with everything, from a crew neck to an open shirt. Pendants bring a personal touch: the heart necklace, the clover necklace or the moon necklace each carry a small symbol. For a necklace with your story, the initial necklace or the name necklace are a lovely choice, for yourself or as a necklace for your wife or girlfriend.

Gold necklace or silver necklace?

A gold necklace brings warmth to the face and pairs well with cream, camel and black; a silver necklace looks fresh with white, grey and denim. Stay in the tone of the earrings you wear most, and you will rarely go wrong. Most of our pieces are gold-tone or silver-tone stainless steel; a few pearl styles are set on 925 sterling silver, as noted on each product page. The sleek snake chain necklace, smooth and fluid, is one of the easiest everyday pieces to start with.

Necklace lengths and where they fall

Length changes everything. Chokers (around 14 to 16 inches) sit close to the base of the neck and suit open necklines. An 18-inch chain falls on the collarbone, the most popular length for a pendant. Around 20 to 22 inches, a necklace drops just below the collarbone and pairs well with higher necklines. How to layer necklaces

Layering works best with two or three necklaces of different lengths, spaced about two inches apart. Mix textures: a fine chain, a pendant and a slightly bolder link. Caring for your necklaces

Put your necklace on after perfume and lotion, and take it off before sport, a swim or sleep.
