How to choose a men's ring
Start with the profile. A flat band, like our men's band ring, is the most discreet option and works on any finger. A signet ring has a flat top that catches the light and gives the hand more presence; browse the full selection in men's signet rings, from the oval signet ring to the onyx signet ring with its black stone. For something with more attitude, the lion ring or the skull ring make a clear statement.
Width matters too: wider rings suit larger hands and the index or pinky finger, while slimmer bands are easier to stack or wear next to a wedding band.
Gold, silver or black: picking a finish
Gold rings for men bring warmth and pair naturally with leather straps and brown tones. Silver rings feel cooler and more understated, and they go with almost everything in a casual wardrobe. A black ring is the most minimal choice of all, and works well alone. Most of our pieces are made of gold-tone or silver-tone stainless steel; check each product page for the exact material and finish.
Which finger, and what it says
The ring finger is the classic place for a promise ring or a commitment ring for him. A pinky ring, often a signet, is a traditional choice with a slightly vintage feel. The index finger takes bolder pieces well, while the middle finger is the most neutral spot for a first ring. If you wear several, keep one finish per hand for a cleaner look. Our guide to what each ring finger means goes further.
Finding the right size
A ring should slide over the knuckle with slight resistance and stay put without pinching. Fingers swell with heat and shrink in the cold, so measure at the end of the day. Our ring size chart explains how to measure at home with a strip of paper or an existing ring. If you are buying a gift, borrowing a ring he already wears on the right finger is the most reliable method.
Care
Take your ring off before the gym, swimming or handling cleaning products, wipe it with a soft dry cloth after wear and store it on its own so it does not scratch against other pieces. A quick wipe now and then keeps the shine.
